| After 13 years in the Graphic Design and Advertising field I decided to use my artistic background in a different and creative endeavor...in wood! It's had such an appeal to me since 1978 when, as newly married, I first set out to make our own furniture. The whole design process plus the chance to work with my hands was a great fit for my temperament and need for an artistic outlet. I poured over books about woodworking and attended as many workshops as I could afford at the time, to learn as much as I could. In 1985, I got divorced and moved to Flagstaff, AZ. I worked for cabinet shops for a few years and received great hands-on experience in cabinetmaking. Finally, in 1991 I decided to go on my own as Wood'N'What-Knots, with the help of my wonderful new lady, and have been building custom cabinetry, furniture and accessories for a wide range of institutions and private clients in northern Arizona ever since. (Ah,Bliss!!) I like the challenge of working with wood. It combines many contrasting elements -- the integration of design, color and texture to fulfill a client's idea and needs. All, utilizing modern machining and traditional techniques. Whatever my current project, I like knowing that my attention to detail is crafting something lasting...something I'm proud to pass on to the future. Speaking of the future, check out my Recent Work page for current and upcoming projects as they become available. Thanks for stopping by, and if you need a fine, custom-made furniture project for your home or office please contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank You, ---Bob Fain |
